Our fav Tips for a relaxed schedule

Let's Start with the layflat!

The first thing our photographers do after saying hello is plan & shoot the layflat. This photo starts off our galleries with the trinkets that introduce your wedding day.
Here is our item list:

BRIDE:
Shoes, invitations, rings (all 3),
earrings/bracelets/necklaces,
bouquet, perfume

GROOM:
Bow tie / tie, belt, watch, shoes, socks (if they have pazzaz), cologne, boutonnière, cufflinks, pocket square

Preparation is key! Please have these items ready for us. No worries if you don't have everything listed.

Our Biggest Morning Delays...

While we love makeup artists and respect their craft, if they run late, we run late, and the whole schedule starts to shift into a delayed panic. We recommend that the bride & whoever is helping them get ready is never last on the list for makeup and hair. That way, if makeup is running late with a bridesmaid, at least we can start getting those dress photos with mom.

Another big delay is waiting on the bridal party! Make sure your bridal party arrives on time and has showered at the very least.

Natural Light is Always Better

For group shots & portaits, we always advocate for natural light photography when possible. But this doesn't mean direct sunlight! Finding a shaded, spacious spot for photos is best. It’s also beneficial to visit this photo location at the same time as your wedding day to see how the light looks on skin. You may have a spot in mind in a forest for example, but look how spotty the light hits your skin.

This also doesn't mean you need photos outside, having a big window is a huge bonus in any location.

The Family Photos Conga Line

Family photos are like having a snack, you can't just have one! When guests see you taking photos with immediate family, they also want one with you, we can't blame them, but it eats up a lot of time. Having a remote location for family photos is ideal, especially if you’re thinking to do photos after the ceremony. We can help with on-site locations, and keeping a shorter list with your closer relatives and friends helps keeps everyone on schedule. We also love to use cocktail hour for impromptu photos!

Create Buffer Time

As organized as we all are, there are times when schedule on a wedding day inevitably runs behind. Allow a good 10-15 minutes after each event of the day to give you space on the schedule, snack & water breaks and gives you some breathing room! Btw, we take better candids if there’s lots of downtime!
